Kilifi County’s coastal mangrove ecosystems are essential for local livelihoods and environmental stability. Rapid urbanization and overharvesting have degraded these forests, leading to habitat loss and increased poverty. With Veritree and Earth Lungs, Climate Wise is restoring these vital mangrove estuaries. This project empowers coastal communities by providing fishing grounds, additional income streams from sustainable mangrove harvests, and a natural defence against tropical storms, helping protect both the land and its people. By collaborating with local communities, our partnerships provide employment opportunities and promotes sustainable resource management. Earth Lungs’ broader mission includes training and employing 15,000 Forest Adjacent Community members by 2025.
