Kedougou, Senegal – Agroforestry

Coordinates: 12.5579° N, 12.1744° W

Kedougou, near Senegal’s borders with Mali and Guinea, has a tropical climate well-suited for agroforestry. Traditional crop intensification here has degraded soils and led to biodiversity loss, with peanut monocropping harming both the environment and the economy. With Veritree, Climate Wise supports agroforestry in this region, working to restore the Ndankou and Patte Forests and protect them from encroaching agriculture. This project aims to create sustainable livelihoods, rebuild forest cover, and improve the resilience of local ecosystems.
