Southern Kenya’s coastal communities, reliant on mangrove ecosystems, face hardships due to rapid urbanization and ineffective governance. In partnership with Veritree and Earth Lungs, Climate Wise supports mangrove restoration in Kwale, aiming to uplift these impoverished communities. Restoring these mangrove forests bolsters biodiversity, supports sustainable fishing, and creates new income opportunities, all while stabilizing coastlines against storms and climate impacts. Earth Lungs’ broader mission includes training and employing 15,000 Forest Adjacent Community members by 2025.
